Disaster Relief

BOLO is ready to assist those who suffer loss through house fires, floods and other weather related adversities.

On average BOLO assists 40 fire victims annually. BOLO maintains a special inventory of small appliances and household goods earmarked for purpose.

Fortunately, Newport is not impacted by natural disasters often such as floods hurricanes and and tornados. However, BOLO does share product and resources with disaster recovery organizations in other states.

Ten years ago, in November 2012, the Perry County Times reported on the assistance rendered by BOLO in the aftermath of a hurricane. Newport Food Bank Supports Hurricane Relief. “After a disaster like Hurricane Sandy, images of human suffering are striking and calls for donations prevalent. People across the country contribute to relief efforts but few see the logistics of how their donations reach the victims.

“In the past two weeks, however, volunteers at Bread of Life Outreach in Newport have witnessed and facilitated the movement of more than 24 tractor trailer loads of supplies to New York and New Jersey residents affected by Sandy.”
